NetFront 3.5

Mobile browser wars continue and last time Opera was my choice (mostly). Thanks to Timmi’s comment I’ve discovered the best ever browser – NetFront 3.5 – which I recon can be beaten only by new Firefox. Fast and smart are the main advantages but there is a lot more. It all begins with properly rendered pages exactly the same way as your desktop computer does. You can easily scroll them with your thumb or stylus, zoom out and in with 2 taps and you always have a thumbnail map of the page. Brilliance goes on.

The genius feature is Column Rendering which slightly rearranges page columns to fit text into your screen. When reading a blog for example you don’t need to scroll in all directions just up and down. NetFront will also stick your screen to that column so you don’t have to be very precise.

It supports tabbed browsing, different markups, scripts, secure protocols etc. It just simply works like your desktop browser. I’m stunned. I suppose describing all the cool features here doesn’t make much sense, you can read all of this stuff at manufacturers website. My advice is: download it, give it a try, fall in love and than read what more cool things it can do for you. It’s really brilliant in every way. Pages look and feel just so … normal!

According to the idea of “there is no perfect application” I must say the text size is small on my VGA screen. When you enlarge it, most pages loose their perfect fit, texts overlap and it becomes a little bit messy. This is not a big deal but sometimes can be annoying. There is a zoom capability like in newest desktop Firefox or Opera but thanks to limited processing power image quality is not that good. Still the browser is brilliant!
